Posterior Bite: When the upper and lower teeth, molar or pre-molar in particular, are in contact with each other while the jaws are closed in a biting position, this situation is known as “Posterior (Back) Bite”.
Posterior Open Bite: The occurrence of posterior open bite happens when there is a mis-alignment or malocclusion of the teeth in the posterior (molar or pre-molar). In such cases, the upper & lower teeth in the back do not have any proper contact with each other, i.e. sit properly with each other, while the front upper incisor & lower incisor are in contact during a biting position.
Reasons of Posterior Open Bite: Genetics; Deformed jaws or misaligned jaws; Prolonged Thumb Sucking or Tongue Thrusting and/or Prolonged use of pacifiers

Aligner Treatment For Posterior Open Bite: Clear aligners or invisible aligners are widely chosen for the orthodontic treatment of mild and moderate cases of Posterior open bites. These aligners are a series of easily removable plastic trays that gradually and gently move the teeth into an ideal position.
Aligners are preferred as they are almost invisible, most convenient & effective way to correct mild & moderate posterior open bite. They are very hygienic as well as they are easily removable and one can remove them while having food and also clean them and the teeth daily twice. Each set of Aligners are required to be worn for two weeks, for at least 20-22 hours a day to get the optimum results, after which next in the series are to be worn.
