Overbite or a Deep Bite: The Overbite or a Deep Bite is a form of dental condition wherein the upper jaw or teeth extend forward and vertically overlap the lower jaw or teeth. As a result the upper teeth in front protrude or extend more forward than the lower front teeth, which is when the overbite occurs.

Overbites are quite common and generally they do not pose substantial health hazards. In a few of the cases, an overbite can cause trouble in chewing, speech impediments. In some cases the patients experience even jaw pain apart from the pain in other areas of the face. Moreover, in cases where the top teeth significantly overlaps the bottom teeth, patients also have been found experience aesthetic problems as well.

Aligners – Best solution for Overbite: Aligners are one of the most effective methods to correct mild to moderate overbite. Over the course of therapy with these aligners, constant pressure on the teeth is applied gradually and softly as a result of which the teeth move into their ideal position. Aligners also straighten the teeth during this treatment.

Aligner treatment for an overbite will start with a series of x-rays, photographs, and bite impressions of the teeth to create a 3D model of the mouth. Subsequently a customized treatment plan will be devised which with a series of clear aligners. Each aligner is worn for a specified period of time, usually 15 days or two weeks, before being replaced by the next aligner in the series. These have to be worn for 22 hours a day to enjoy the best results. The total treatment period ranges from 12-18 months depending on the complexity of the case.
